Biotium AKT1 (Prognostic Marker for Neuroendocrine Tumors) (AKT1/2552), 1mg/mL
This antibody recognizes a protein of 62 kDa, which is identified as AKT1. The serine/threonine kinase Akt family contains several members, including Akt1 (also designated PKB or RacPK), Akt2 (also designated PKBbeta or RacPK-beta) and Akt3 (also designated PKB-gamma or thymoma viral proto-oncogene 3), which exhibit sequence homology with the protein kinase A and C families and are encoded by the c-Akt proto-oncogene. All members of the Akt family have a Pleckstrin homology domain. Akt1 and Akt2 are activated by PDGF stimulation. This activation is dependent on PDGFR-beta tyrosine residues 740 and 751, which bind the subunit of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-kinase) complex. Activation of Akt1 by insulin or insulin-growth factor-1 (IGF-1) results in phosphorylation of both Thr 308 and Ser 473. Akt proteins become phosphorylated and activated in insulin/IGF-1-stimulated cells by an upstream kinase(s), and the activation of Akt1 and Akt2 is inhibited by the PI kinase inhibi

Biotium Ki-67 (Proliferating Cell Marker)(MKI67/2466), CF488A conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Ki-67 antigen is a nuclear, non-histone protein that is present in all stages of the cell cycle except G0. This characteristic makes Ki-67 an excellent marker for proliferating cells and is commonly used as one of the prognostic factors in cancer studies. A correlation has been demonstrated between Ki-67 index and the histo-pathological grade of neoplasms. Assessment of Ki-67 expression in renal and ureter tumors shows a correlation between tumor proliferation and disease progression, thus making it possible to differentiate high-risk patients. Ki-67 expression may also prove to be important for distinguishing between malignant and benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors. Ki-67 labeling index has been shown to be a prognostic marker in a number of neoplasms including grade II astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, colon carcinoma, and breast carcinoma. In general, Ki-67 is a good marker of proliferating cell populations.Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of

Biotium Human IgD (Immunoglobulin Delta Heavy Chain) (B-Cell Marker) (IGHD/2730R), Biotin conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Immunoglobulins are four-chain, Y-shaped, monomeric structures comprised of two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains held together through interchain disulfide bonds. The chains form two domains, the Fab (antigen binding) fragment and the Fc (constant) fragment. Immunoglobulin D (IgD) exists as a monomer withδ heavy chains and either κ or λ light chains. It plays a biological role as a transmembrane receptor molecule, co-expressed with IgM on the surface of mature/naive B cells. In particular, it is found on spleen B cell surfaces. Compared to IgM, IgD exists in much lower numbers and is not expressed on immature B cells. IgD surface expression on B cells is regulated in part by IL-27. In mice, the inhibition of this immunoglobulin isotype does not cause a significant change to the immune system.Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF Dyes and other labels. CF Dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability.

Biotium Cadherin 17 / LI Cadherin (Liver-Intestine Marker)(CDH17/2618), CF488A conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Cadherin 17, also known as LI cadherin (for liver-intestine cadherin), is a member of the cadherin family of calcium-dependent adhesion molecules. Cadherins mediate cell-cell interactions via hemophilic binding, and are critical to the maintenance of tissue structure and morphogenesis. Cadherins each contain a large extracellular domain at the amino terminus, which is characterized by a series of five homologous repeats, the most distal of which is thought to be responsible for binding specificity. The relatively short carboxy terminal, intracellular domain interacts with a variety of cytoplasmic proteins, including beta-catenin, to regulate cadherin function. Cadherin 17 expression is restricted to liver and intestine tissues and is specifically localized to the basolateral domain of hepatocytes and enterocytes. Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF Dyes and other labels. CF Dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability. N

Biotium Gastrin(GAST/2634), CF488A conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Gastrin, is a hormone that normally formed by mucosal cells in the gastric antrum and by the D cells of the pancreatic islets. Its primary function is to stimulate secretion of HCl by the gastric mucosa. HCl, in turn, inhibits gastrin formation. It also responsible for stimulating smooth muscle contraction and increasing blood circulation and water secretion in the stomach and intestine. Gastrin is regulated by epidermal growth factor in both mice and humans. Gastrin is excreted in excess by pancreatic tumors in the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Gastrin-Releasing Peptide (GRP) stimulates the release of gastrin as well as other gastrointestinal hormones and also acts as an autocrine growth factor for certain cell types. High levels of GRP are found in the human lung just after birth and levels decrease thereafter in parallel with the observed disease in a number of pulmonary neuroendocrine cells. GRP is known to promote lung tumorigenesis in model systems. Primary antibodies are

Biotium MTF1(MTF1/2649), CF488A conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
The metal-responsive element (MRE)-binding transcription factor (MTF-1) stimulates the expression of metallothioneins in response to the exposure of cells to heavy metals. MTF-1 contains six zinc fingers in the DNA binding domain. The phosphorylation of MTF-1 in response to metal exposure appears to play a significant role in the ability of MTF-1 to activate metallothionein transcription. In addition to its role in metallothionein activation, MTF-1 is involved in a post-transcription regulatory complex for ribosomal protein S25. MTF-1, La and p53 inhibit the nuclear export of S25 mRNA in response to nutrient depravation. Furthermore, MTF-1 acts as a chromatin insulator on integrated transgenes in cultured cells to insulate active loci against chromatin silencing. Biotium Spastin(Sp 3G11-1), 1mg/mL
The AAA protein family members share an ATPase domain and have roles in various cellular processes including intracellular motility, membrane trafficking, proteolysis, protein folding and organelle biogenesis. Spastin, a member of the AAA protein family, is a 616 amino acid protein and is involved in the function or assembly of nuclear protein complexes. The Spastin protein is expressed ubiquitously and localizes to the nucleus and the cytoplasm, where it may also be involved in microtubule dynamics. Mutations in the Spastin gene (SPAST, SPG4) cause the most common form of spastic paraplegia 4, an autosomal dominant form of hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). HSPs comprise a group of inherited neurological disorders characterized by spastic lower extremity weakness due to a length-dependent, retrograde axonopathy of corticospinal motor neurons. SPAST-specific mutations account for approximately 40% of all autosomal dominant HSPs. Primary antibodies are available purified, or
